1936 Marconi Model 80

1936 Maroni Model 80 Radio

In October of 2021 I restored a 1936 Marconi Model 80 to working order.

The control-rod attatched to the power toggle had broken off at some point, meaning the radio couldn't power up. I found a compatible one at a local electronics supplier, and was able to replace it. The radio now powers on, and receives frequencies in the AM band.

I also added networking features, which allows for the "casting" of music to it from a Chromecast-capable device.

I wired a Chromecast audio into a Lepy LP-2020A Class D amplifier, and was able to connect said amplifier to the speakers using alligator clips. This allowed me to add this additional feature without having to modify or damage the original hardware.

Plugged into a smart-switch, I can now power the radio on using Google Assistant and cast music to it from any Chromecast enabled device.
